The goggle collecting goes well!

I got two new pairs of goggles recently, which I'd like to share with my photo fans now!

The first pair are industrial welding goggles with
darker, flip up lenses that look freaking awesome!

For anyone who's familiar with Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog
you'll recognize what I'm describing!

Behold, the welding goggles of Dr. Horrible!

I am totally a mad scientist!

I also got some molded cup welding goggles, which look a lot like the ones Trent Reznor wore
in the music video for the song Closer.  Because of this, I call them "Trent Reznor goggles."

They're my favorite.

I think I'm in love!

That's what I've got so far.  I'm pretty happy with them!
More photos as more goggles come into my possession...

Keep your eyes peeled, photo fans!

Can't help lovin' dat man of mine.

Today is the 3 year, 7 month anniversary since my boyfriend, Sam, and I started dating.
It's the longest either of us have ever been in a relationship,
and it still feels like no time has passed at all.

We always felt completely comfortable with each other,
and that feeling only grows stronger as time passes.

I can't imagine where I'd be without him, and I don't really want to.
I can't help lovin' dat man of mine.

Here are some photos of the two of us over the time we've been together. :)

Thanks for looking!

February 20, 2012

I've decided to start a goggle collection.

For a while now, I've had this kind of weird obsession with goggles, especially safety goggles, science goggles, and my favorite of all, welding goggles.  Knowing this, my boyfriend bought me a pair of safety goggles for Christmas, and, until today, I hadn't done anything with them, and they were still in their original box on my desk.

But today, prompted by seeing goggles on an interviewee on a horror documentary we're watching, I've decided I'm going to use that Christmas present as a jumping off point for a goggle collection.  I'm currently looking up goggles on Amazon.com and handmade steampunk goggles on Etsy.com, and I've taken a few photos of my goggles and me wearing them with my new phone, which I will share with you now.

I know this is a weird thing to do.  People everywhere collect things, many much weirder than goggles.

Don't judge me.

;)

Stay tuned for more goggle photos as I collect more! :)

A Moment of Silence

Instead of a photo today, I am taking a moment - well, day - of silence
in memory of a very close friend of my family
who died of cancer last night, at the age of 74.

Kate Brennan, friend, mentor, wife, mother, teacher, all around beautiful person,
you will be sorely missed by everyone who knew you, and especially by me.

Rest in peace.  I love you.

Today (yesterday's) photo is a snowy self portrait,

Proof that I DO leave the house occasionally! :-P

Snowflakes and Insomnia

I've been having trouble sleeping (as always), and since I'm awake, I decided to share with everyone what I saw out the kitchen window when I dragged myself to get a drink.

These were all taken from the door to my balcony (I was not dressed to go outside!).

It's supposed to look like this all weekend.  How depressing.

If it's not Christmas, snow is just useless.  Maybe someday I'll move somewhere warmer.  Someday.

If it looks like this where you are, photo fans, drive carefully and keep warm.  Drink lots of tea and hot chocolate and curl up with a good book, movie, or special person.  If it's warm where you are, take advantage of it for people like me.

See you later, photo fans!

Welcome, photo fans, to the first official Nevermind the Camera post, as well as the first installment of the Photo of the Day!

Nothing special is going on today, but any time is a good excuse for a photo of a beautiful kitten!

Photo of the Day 2/10/12:
Christie and I are just lounging around while a snow storm moves in for the weekend.
I don't think either of us will be going anywhere for a while. ;)

Keep your eyes peeled for more photos, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the next Photo of the Day!

See you soon, photo fans!
